Villains or antagonists, I believe are the engines of any story. They bring out other dimensions in the protagonists and thus, make the most interesting characters.
As we know, the actions and motivations of these characters are justified by a tragic past, so Nacho Diaz, a Spanish illustrator, wondered what their lives would have been had they found some love? Would they still be grumpy? That’s how the passion project, Villians Need Love, started.
“In the process, I realized that while some of the villains are bad for the sake of being bad, others just had a really hard time in the past or were in the wrong place at the wrong time, so a little love might actually fix some of them!” ~ Nacho Diaz
During her journey, Nacho illustrated more than 50 villains with their antagonists hugging and cuddling them. We found this project on a crowdfunding platform and today with this post we are celebrating its huge success. From books to stickers, from smartphone covers to tee shirts, more than 600 fans of both heroes and villains showered their immense love.
Can you believe that Villians Need Love project not only achieved ten stretch goals but also bagged 5x of its original fund goal!!
Now you know the story of this project but how many stories of these villains can you recall?
