This is one beautiful story I found over Facebook. Not my original write, I’m just sharing it with my readers here. Nosh on!
Four Wives And Their Dying Man
There was once a man with four wives. Out of all, he loved his fourth wife the most, took great care of her and gave her the best of everything. With that kind of investment, he believed that no one could steal her from him.
The man also loved his third wife and always wanted to show her off to his friends as she was very attractive. However, with her, he feared that she might run away with some other man.
The man also loved his second wife since she was always there for him whenever he faced some problems, and he would always turn to her to seek her help and advice.
However, the man did not love his first wife, even though it was she who loved him deeply, remained loyal to him and took great care of him.
Time passed like this, and one unfortunate day the man fell very ill. It seemed to him that he is going to die soon. He told himself, “I have four wives with me. I will take one of them along with me when I die to keep company in my death.” Thus, he asked his beloved (fourth) wife to die and accompany him in the other world.
“No way!” she replied and walked away without another word.
He now asked his third wife and she bluntly replied, “Life is so good over here. Sorry darling, but I’m going to remarry when you die.”
Listening to her answer didn’t surprise him much as he expected this behavior from her even when he showed her off to his friends. Once again, he mustered up his courage and asked his second wife the same question.
She apologized, “I’m Sorry. I can’t help you this time around. At the most, I can only accompany you till your grave.”
By now, the man’s heart sank and turned cold. Looking at all of this was his first wife.
“I’ll leave with you. I’ll follow you no matter where you go.”
The man looked up and there was his first wife. He observed her for the first time. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the man said, “I should have taken much better care of you while I could have!”
Actually, we all have four wives in our lives.
The fourth wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it’ll leave us when we die.
The third wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they go to others.
The second wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we’re alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
The first wife, however, is our soul, neglected in our pursuit of material wealth and pleasure. It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go!
A girl on Quora asked, “What should be the priority of everyone’s life?” and I hope that this story answers everyone’s question.
